We’ve known Argiro ever since since she came to our hometown Elmira after marrying our cousin Peter George Greven. Although we had moved away, when visiting we would see Argiro at Greek community social events, attendance at St. Athanasios church and occasionally as a guest at their home. We remember Argiro with a smile on her face and always happy to interact with everyone. In later years we would stay in touch by telephone, exchanging news and reminiscing about old times. It goes without saying that Argiro was devoted to her family. She also gave of herself to St. Athanasios church including bible readings. Her generosity extended beyond the Greek community as evidenced by her participation in Meals on Wheels. Argiro will be missed.

So sorry for Iro's loss. One amazing person. Iro and I would have great conversations while cleaning up the front yard of the church. She also gave the greatest hugs! Always had a smile on her face. Your dad would sit in the car, and patiently wait while we did your "little" chores. I loved my conversations, with Pete as well. We have been neighbors of the church going on 55 years. Both your parents were very devoted to the church. A lot of great memories of the Greek festivals, and of course the Greek pastries, and baklava. Know that they will be watching down from above, and are now together.

My most vivid memories of Mrs. Greven are watching her speed walk through the neighborhood, weights in hand. She was inspiring. She would always stop to chat, commenting or giving advice to my husband Michael on the state of his garden.
Mike always said that Mrs. Greven made the BEST baklava.
She was a wonderful woman and I feel blessed to have known her.

Judy and I were saddened to learn of Iro’s passing. Our most sincere condolences to her family members and many friends. She always displayed a most welcoming smile whenever we were together. She embraced the concept of stewardship by giving of her time, treasure, and talent to Saint Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church. She was committed to helping others as exemplified by her involvement with Meals On Wheels. May she rest in the peace of Christ, and may her memory be eternal.
