Sheila Aber Cashman

Age 60, of Anchorage AK, Homer AK and The Villages FL, passed away, along with her husband, Patrick, in Anchorage, on April 18, 2024.

Born and raised in Elmira, Sheila is the daughter of the late Dr. Jack and Charlotte (VanDyke) Aber.  In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by brother Matthew Aber, sister-in-law Liza Schuman and nephew Connor Jezorski.

Sheila is survived by her stepchildren, Kaitlin Cashman (Clifford, III) Armstrong with son Akim of Anchorage, Lauren (Julian Lake) Cashman of Santa Barbara CA and Patrick (PK Woo) Cashman, Jr. of Juneau AK.  Also surviving are her siblings, Pam (Rob) Groff of The Villages FL and Waneta Lake NY, Mike Aber of Long Beach CA, Vickie (Mike) Jezorski of Sierra Vista AZ, Dan (Karen) Aber of Wellsburg, Tom Aber of Elmira, Duke (Lauren) Aber of Fairfield CT; sister-in-law Crystal (Brad Longwell) Aber of Pine City; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; many dear friends and her fur baby Phoebe.

Sheila was a 1982 graduate of Notre Dame High School.  After high school she attended St. Leo University, St. Leo, FL and graduated from Elmira College in 1986.  Sheila was an avid athlete, playing sports at every level during her academic years.  She was a particularly gifted tennis player.  Sheila caught the pickleball bug and almost immediately became a force in that game as well.  She was making a name for herself as a very strong player, in her new sport, in The Villages, as well as in her hometown of Anchorage.  While fiercely competitive Sheila always had a smile and a giggle for you, as she beat you.

With her husband, Patrick, Sheila owned and operated Ravens Nest Spa in Anchorage.  Through years of hard work and dedication they elevated Ravens Nest to be the premier spa in their area.

Sheila had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel.  At various times in her life, she lived in Lake Tahoe, St. John VI, Seattle, and Hawaii.  She loved seeing new places, new cultures, hiking, scuba diving, and exploring.

Sheila was blessed with a soft and gentle sense of humor, and a gracious wit.  To be witness to it was to be blessed.
