Peter Gus Greven posted a condolence

In memory of our beloved Peter,
As first cousins, my sister and I have known Peter all our lives and been very close to him. We too lived in Leonidion, Greece during WWII and often played together. Our relationship continued when we all retuned to Elmira after the war. We always enjoyed his company when Peter with his father would visit our home. We were also frequent partakers of his inimitable chili dogs that he would immediately start preparing for us as we were walking into his restaurant. Although we left Elmira at some point we frequently visited since other family members still lived there and we never failed to meet with Peter and his father. In later years we continued contact by phone. In addition to being a first rate family man, Peter was a genuine person we looked up to. He always had a smile on his face and never complained about anything. We will miss him sorely.

George and Family,
So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. More than just "Geroge's dad", we were always proud to say "I know him! His son George is a good friend." He made Central Hots and Midtown a fun destination.

Dear Greven Family,
We are so so sorry to hear of Pete's passing. A long time acquaintance whether it was Lunch at Central Hots, bumping into Pete at the Post Office or driving down Riverside Ave.. Pete was an incredibly approachable man. Always time to chat, discuss the issue(s) of the day or trying to squeeze the meat sauce recipe from him, he always had a smile and a friendly greeting.
A Wonderful Man with a Fantastic Wife, Pete will surely be missed by any and all that knew him.
God Bless Peter Greven, May He Rest in Peace.

Mrs greven and family, Pete was a wonderful man. My mom Libby Forte, brought us to central hots when we’re children and my children were raised there as well. The highlight of one of our Virginia Beach vacations was when my son ran in to you and Pete on the beach. He was loved and will be missed

I am so sorry to learn about the loss of Peter. He was a lovely man. We went to high school together. Pete sat behind me in one class and loved to tug on my hair. He worked in the restaurant also. My friends and I always stopped in after a movie on Saturdays. I don’t think he had much leisure time. My sincere condolences to his family. Joann Lewis Decker
