Obituary of Janet G. O'Bryan

Passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Sunday, January 22, 2017. Janet was born in New Castle PA, A daughter of John and Gertrude Bloise. In addition to her parents Janet is predeceased by husbands, Gary L. Shaw and Robert J. Buelow, Sr., infant daughter Debra Lynn Shaw; sister Joan Nichols, step mother Thelma Chadwick Bloise and step-daughter Nancy Tice. Janet is survived by husband Terrence P. O'Bryan; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan L. and Dina Shaw of Corning; daughter and son-in-law, Lorna J. and Karl Colburn of East Corning; grandchildren, Jacob E. Harrington, Ryan J. Shaw, Indy Shaw Harrington, Tyler Colburn and Jenna Colburn; step children (Robert's children), Cheryl, Karen, B.J. (Sue) and Patty; step children (Terrence's children) Edward (Susan) O'Bryan, Nancy (Mike) Robertson, Linda (Graham) Forrester, Timothy (Elizabeth) O'Bryan and Lawrence (Heather) O'Bryan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lewis and Marilyn Bloise of Painted Post, John and Kathy Bloise of Addison, Ronald and Sharon Bloise of Georgia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Walter of Corning, Joy and Sam Baker of Hamburg NY, Sylvia Davis of Elmira; special friend Beverly Keller of Sayre; several step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Janet had worked for several local companies including Westinghouse in Bath, Ann Page, Thatcher Glass and Corning Inc. from where she retired with 25 years of service. While at Thatcher Glass Janet also drove a school bus for a few years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling in earlier years. Janet was a member of the Ladies Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernian where she and Terry enjoyed spending time. Being with family and friends was what Janet cherished most. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St. Elmira on Wednesday January 25, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Church. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Hope Cemetery Annex in Corning. Those wishing may remember Janet with a donation to Ancient Order of Hibernians, Building Fund, 701 Kinyon St., Elmira NY 14904 or Christ the Redeemer Parish, 1010 Davis St., Elmira NY 14901.
Officers and members of the Ladies Division of the A.O.H. will meet at McInerny Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 25th at 6:00 p.m. to conduct a prayer service for our sister, Janet. Signed, Beth Vetter, President
