I knew Ellen from my youth as the wife of Skip Gibbs. She was always upbeat, fun and a joy to be around. Her passing came as a surprise to me since I visited her last October for a high school reunion and she seemed so healthy. She always treated me like an immediate family member even after her marriage to Ed Matson. Although I have not met Ed, I know he is a very lucky man to have shared part of his life with Ellen.
What buoys me is that I know she lived life to it's fullest, was loved by all those she interacted with and generally made life better for everyone who came in contact with her. I never remember a time when she was cross!
I shared her passion for golf and tennis as life-long sports. She was a real angel!
She set a great example as a mother, friend and partner.

Ellen was a wonderful friend for many years. We enjoyed each and every "stop by" at Keuka Lake. Just last year Ed and Ellen hosted a party for the pickle ball ladies at their home at the lake and a great time was had by all. She will be missed and remember forever.

Ellen P. Gibbs Matson was a breath of fresh air, a bright ray of light, always upbeat and a delight to be around. Her generosity towards me in returning from California in 2006 and 2016 to attend high school reunions and allowing me to stay at her home is just one example of her hospitality. Her many contributions to the community through organizations that she participated in will not be forgotten. We shall miss her effervescent personality as God took her from us too soon. I am thankful that she was in the Gibbs family to allow us to enjoy her friendship. We are all better people from having known Ellen!
