Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Jane Templar (Stone) Elmira: Mary Jane, our angel among us, passed into the Lord's presence as peacefully from this earth as she had graced it for the past 87 years, on Monday October 22, 2012. Mary Jane was a God loving gentle soul that fluttered her wings all around us as evident in her daily walk. She was predeceased by her husband Clayton H. Templar, Sr. on August 13, 2012. They would have celebrated 66 years of marriage this November. Mary Jane is survived by her four children and their spouses, Martha Jane and Mike Cowulich, Columbia SC, Clayton H. Templar, Jr., Guy M. and Sue Templar, Candace E. and Greg Shaw, all of Elmira; grandchildren, Clayton H. Templar, III, Brittany A. Templar, Timothy W. Kelly II, Wendy J. Sellers, Christopher S. Tucker, Luke T. Shaw, Mathew and Patrick Mallacoccio; great grandchildren, Sophia and Hannah Sellers, Christopher and Samantha Tucker; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marion Stone, Sylvania OH, Shirley Cassada, Southington CT, William S. and Carole Templar, Hilton Head SC; aunt Clarisa Fife, Elmira; along with many nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by grandson Brennan Templar, brothers and sisters, Howard F., Jr., Laverne, Avis Ruth, and Dorothy Mae Stone. Mary Jane graduated from Hendy Avenue School and E.F.A. She began her career at Hygeia working as a bookkeeper until she began her long and never ending "career" as a mother. Mary Jane was a member of the Calvary Church of the Nazarene from the time it opened its doors in 1952 until its last days in 2012. She will always be remembered for leading the choir and playing piano at both the Calvary Nazarene Church and Southside Alliance. Mary Jane loved her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren with every fiber of her being, and planted the seeds of Christianity in every grandchild. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 115 West Hill Road, Elmira, on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 12:00 noon. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Mary Jane with a donation to your local Christian church to continue the preaching of the gospel that she was so committed to. Many thanks to the caregivers involved in Mary Jane's final days.
