Obituary of George Joseph Rossi

Was reunited with his parents, brothers, and sisters on Thursday, September 15, 2016, into the arms of Heavenly love. George was born February 22, 1933, in Elmira, son of the late Salvatore S. and Frances DiLauro Rossi. He is also predeceased by his siblings, Leonard, Antoinette "Nettie," Daniel, Dominic, Gaetana "Ki," and grandson Salvitore "Sammy" Rossi. George is survived by his wife Judy Eustace Rossi, his children and their spouses, Michelle Rossi-Storch and Scott Storch of Elmira Heights, Thomas and Susan D. Rossi of Elmira, Salvitore Samuel Rossi of Elmira, Toni Rossi-Miller and Carl Miller of Bridgewater VA (of Shirley Struble Rossi); John and Stacey T. Eustace of Horseheads, Jimmy and Susan Eustace of Horseheads, J. P. and Karen Eustace of San Diego CA, and special son Andrew R. Berg…. all of whom received a biff or two from Dad's hand, esp. Tommy and Sammy. Also surviving are grandchildren, Nicole, Jamie, Adam, Jarrid, Jody, Ebony, Kristina (his favorite, he told me so), Giorgio, Antonella, Tess, Michael, J.J., Alison, Angelia, Alannah, Alia; 15 great grandchildren; special friends, Gary Crandell, Dale Jennings and Vinny Valicenti; the Cozy Corner family; and many nieces, nephews, good friends, and neighbors. George was retired from the Liggett and Myers Company; and with Leonard, and Nettie started and owned GLN Tax Service. We will all remember the history and family times spent with George at Rossi Grocery on 427-429 West Fifth Street, He enjoyed life to the fullest, the lake, travelling and most of all family and friends. There will be no calling hours (at his request, he said to tell everyone "don't be standing around my casket talking about me"). Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, for George, on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., St. Patrick's Church. A gathering will follow at 813 Winsor Avenue, Elmira.
