Obituary of Rosalie F. Lovell

Age 69, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016, with her family by her side, at Corning Hospital. Rosalie was born in Elmira a daughter of the late Grace (Frosolone) and Frank V. Fiori. She is also predeceased by her granddaughter Patricia "Patty" May Twigg. Rosalie is survived by her husband George W. Lovell, with whom she would have celebrated 46 years of marriage with on September 12th; daughters, and their families, Kathleen G. and Matthew Bowes of Pine City, and their children, Cassidy Lauren, Mara Grace and Nicholas Matthew Bowes; Ellen R. and David Twigg of West Long Branch NJ and their son Bryce Davis Twigg; siblings, and their spouses, Mary Ann Voorhees of Liverpool NY, Francis V. and Pam Fiori of South Windsor CT, Joseph V. Fiori of Elmira, Anthony J. "Terry" and Joanne Fiori of Pittsford NY; aunt and uncle Mary Theresa and Robert Vertoske of Elmira; along with several nieces and nephews. Rose was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. While raising her two daughters, she went back to school at Elmira College where she earned both her Bachelor and Master Degrees in Education. Rose taught for 20 years at Diven Elementary School in Elmira. After her retirement she joined a group of people who were interested in learning the Italian language. This led her to becoming fluent in the language enabling her to speak, read and write in Italian. Rose was then able to contact her relatives in Macchia Valfortore, Italy by phone, skype and letters, to share stories of their family history. In her spare time she was an avid reader and writer. Rose's greatest joy was the time she spent with her grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Rose on Monday, August 1, 2016, 10:00 a.m., St. Patrick's Church. Private interment will be held at Woodlawn National Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Rose with a donation to the March of Dimes, 3445 Winton Place, Suite 121, Rochester NY 14623.
