Obituary of Isabelle Jean Larrabee

"Izzy" Age 92, of Elmira, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Izzy was born in Elmira on February 3, 1923, a daughter of Anthony and Mary (DeMott) Lisi. She is predeceased by husband Willis I. "Bill" Larrabee, son, retired U S Army Col. Willis F. "Bill" Larrabee, sisters and brothers-in-law, Stella and Howard Stamp, Mary Jane and Robert Church. Izzy is survived by her children, Jerry M. Larrabee with wife Nancy of Big Flats NY, Joseph E. Larrabee with Rico Rapisora of Hadley NY, Theresa Creed with husband Ed of Solana Beach CA; daughter-in-law Rita Larrabee of Amelia Island FL; grandchildren, Brooke Larrabee, Paige (David) McCullough, Sean Larrabee, Patrick Larrabee, Michael Creed and Laura (Andrew Loffer) Creed Loffer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vincent and Beverly Lisi of Elmira, Anthony and Dianna Lisi of Chillicothe OH, Larry and Jean Lisi of Windsor Locks CT; sister-in-law Evelyn Bush of NC; special cousins, Dolores DeMott and Anne DeMott; neighbors and close friends, Manny and Mary Pat Herman; 5 great grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Izzy was known for her passion to cook anything Italian. She used her cooking talents at St. Mary's Church volunteering with setting up and cooking meals for various parish functions. A life-long member of St. Mary's, Izzy was an active member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of the Infant of Prague Committee of the Ladies of Charity, Elmira Chapter of the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary, and past president of the Ladies of Charity. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Izzy received an award from the Elmira Police Department in recognition of her volunteer services during the flood of 1972. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, today, Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Izzy's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Private interment will take place at Woodlawn National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Woodbrook Assisted Living, 1250 Maple Avenue, Elmira NY 14904, may be made in memory of Isabelle Larrabee.
