Obituary of Marie E. Heher

Horseheads: Age 60, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015, surrounded by her family and close friends. Mimi was born November 20, 1954 the daughter of the late Vincent E. Heher and Eleanor (McCarthy) Heher Flynn. She is also predeceased by her stepfather Jack Flynn and brother John V. Heher. Mimi is survived by her sister-in-law Susan E. Heher of Pittsburgh PA and Jupiter FL; nephews, Kevin V. (fiancée Katrina Fontana) of Pittsburgh PA and Michael E. Heher of Truckee CA; along with many cousins and close friends. Mimi was a 1972 graduate of Notre Dame High School, continuing her education at SUNY Cortland earning her Bachelor's and Master's Degree, then obtaining her School District Administrator's certification. During her career Mimi was a Reading Teacher at Watkins Glen School District, served in various capacities at SCT BOCES, retiring from GST BOCES as Assistant Superintendent of Instruction. Active in the community, she served on various Boards: Notre Dame Board of Directors, Corning Community College Development Foundation, Chemung County Youth Bureau, The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Mimi loved spending time with family and friends at her cottage on Keuka Lake. She was blessed throughout her life to be surrounded and supported by numerous close friends. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Interment will then take place at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
