Elmira: Age 65, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. David was born August 26, 1949, in Elmira, a son of the late David T. and Nataline (Santucci) Phillips. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by daughter Jennifer Phillips and brother Duane Phillips. David is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Anita Pinelli Phillips; son David J. Phillips with Jennifer LaMarche, of Rochester; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Sheila Phillips of Elmira, James Michael and Dorothy Phillips of Horseheads, Theodore and Patricia Phillips of Cicero NY; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Theodore L. and Judy Pinelli of Springville NY; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. David was graduate of Elmira Free Academy. He then went on to earn degrees from both Corning Community and Elmira College. David was an outstanding wrestler competing at EFA, Corning Community College and East Carolina University. He was a State Correction Officer retiring after 25 years of service. Growing up David was active in Boy Scouts, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. He enjoyed sports and was an avid NY Yankee fan. It was David's request that all services be kept private. Those wishing may remember David with a donation to the Chemung County SPCA, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira NY 14903. David's family extends a special thank you to CareFirst, and to the staff at the Chemung County Nursing Facility for the wonderful care he received while there.
