Obituary of David Lynn Swan

Age 66, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at his home in Elmira. He was born on November 22, 1947 in the Town of Barton, the son of Julia (Vargo) and Cody Swan. David was raised on a farm in Erin NY. He was a self-proclaimed "jack-of-all-trades", who loved woodworking, mechanics, computers, and constitutional rights. David received a degree in Electrical Technology from Corning Community College and a degree in Business Administration from Elmira College. He served active duty in the U. S. Army from March 1966 to December 1968. While serving in the military he met Pok Sil Kim who would later become his wife. David spent 25 years working in state corrections, mostly at Elmira Correctional Facility. He was a selfless son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. David is survived by his wife Pok Sil, daughters, Kimberley and Cynthia, grandchildren, Haeley, Enigma, Asher, and Owen, sister Judy, and brother Mike. He was predeceased by his parents, Julia and Cody. David's life will be celebrated at Hick's United Methodist Church, 2283 Wyncoop Creek Road, Lockwood NY 14859, on Saturday, March 8, 2014. David's family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m., with a formal service being held at 3:00 p.m. and a reception to follow.
