Obituary of Robert T. Cahill

Age 84, of Elmira and Fort Myers FL, died Thursday, December 12, 2013. Bob was born October 18, 1929 in Bath NY the son of Marie (Griffin) and Thomas Cahill. He is predeceased by his first wife Margaret L. Crane Cahill. Bob is survived by his wife Patricia A. Cahill; step children, Thomas Cosentino, Robert (Beth) Cosentino, Phillip Cosentino and Rosemarie Cosentino; sister Teresa Blencowe; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rosemary Negri, Sally and Ben Crowl, Nancy and Kenneth Swarthout; along with many nieces and nephews. Bob was a U S Army veteran serving his country during the Korean War. He retired July 1, 1987 as a Vice President-Science Products Division at Corning Incorporated where he had 67 years active and retired service. Bob was a member of the Scientific Apparatus Maker's Association where he served for 12 years on the Board of Directors, including 2 years as Chairman of the Board. He was a member, Director and past President of Corning Country Club, a member of the Elmira Country Club, the Forest Country Club, Fort Myers, Horseheads Elks Lodge #2297, Corning Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 524 and Elmira Heights American Legion Post 154. Bob was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Elmira and Church of the Resurrection in South Fort Myers. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Monday, December 16, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Military honors will be accorded outside the church immediately following. Interment, with committal prayers, will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning NY.
