Obituary of Raymond B. Emerson

Elmira: Age 85, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Raymond was born July 11, 1928 the son of Anna (Wida) and Elwin M. Emerson. He is predeceased by his wife Mary Virginia (Malcolm) Emerson, daughters, Sheila Emerson Slusser and Kathleen Emerson, twin brother and his wife, Rodney and Nancy Emerson, brother Warren Emerson, sister Beatrice Owens. Raymond is survived by his children, and their families, Deborah E. Emerson, Pine City; Gary M. and Cindy Emerson, Odessa, with children Brian and Christie; Mark R. and Janice Emerson, Goffstown NH, with children Jennifer, Heather, Bridget and Ryan; Theresa M. and Merle Sinko, Elmira, with Theresa's daughter Patricia Picarazzi; brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen and Diann Emerson, Belmont NY, Norman and Cora Emerson, Cuba NY, Wayne and Connie Emerson, Hendersonville TN, Richard and Dorothy Emerson, West Seneca NY; sisters and brother-in-law, Audrey Zink, Macedon NY, Virginia and Ralph Harbeck, Brewster MA; along with several nieces and nephews. Raymond was a graduate of Alfred State College. He served his country proudly in the U S Army, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Raymond was the Purchasing Agent for I.D. Booth, retiring after 40 years of service. He was a long time communicant of St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers and military honors, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. The family will provide flowers.
