Obituary of Marilyn J. Marinan

Elmira: Age 87, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Lynn was born September 4, 1926, a daughter of the late Erma (Personius) and Burdette W. Playfoot. She is also predeceased by her husband John J. Marinan, step-mother Clara Playfoot and sister Priscilla Collins. Lynn is survived by her children, Karen J. Nicolo and husband Tim, of Elmira, with children Tennille, Christopher, Andrew and Tim; John J. Marinan and wife Laura Addington, Durango CO; Michael Marinan, Elmira; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Sullivan, Elmira; along with several nieces and nephews. A 1947 graduate of Arnot Ogden School of Nursing Lynn worked as a registered nurse at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center until her retirement. A pancreatic cancer survivor for over ten years she was active in many local organizations, enjoyed traveling and playing cards. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 5:15 p.m. Interment will take place in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Lynn with a donation to the Chemung County SPCA, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira NY 14903. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors and caregivers at the AOMC for the wonderful care provided to Lynn.
