Helen L. Shumway Age 85, of Horseheads, died Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Helen was born February 14, 1925, daughter of Daniel and Ruth (Mosso) Collins. She is predeceased by her husband Thomas W. Shumway. Helen is survived by her children, with their families, Sandra J. Shumway of Horseheads; Shirley A. Weigand of Horseheads, with James Barbieri, and her sons, Jason ( Lara) and Matthew Weigand; Susan M. Santucci of Horseheads, with husband Stephen, and sons, Jeffrey (Jennifer) and Brent; James H. Shumway of Horseheads, with wife Jean, and daughters, Lori (Bruce) Cowl, and Teri (Craig) Hall; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Ryan Weigand, Lyndsay and Brendan Santucci, Andrew Shumway, Amber Cowl, and Elaina Hall. Also surviving are sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and James Walker of Wellsboro, PA; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Eleanor Collins of Florida; special nephews, Steven and Kent Walker of Wellsboro; along with several other nieces and nephews. Helen was retired from Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Wellsboro Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Helen with a donation to The Arctic League, P O Box 113, Elmira NY 14902.
