Dawn Marie Costley
Age 66, of Lowman, passed on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Dawn was born October 13, 1943, daughter of the late Leroy and Thelma (Miller) McGettrick. Her dad died while serving his country during WWII. When she was a year old Dawn was adopted by Alfred and Florence (Elvilich) Oliver, who also predeceased her. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by daughter Brenda Lee McCartney, father-in-law Archie Costley, and mother-in-law Agnes (Charles) Mandley. Dawn is survived by her husband and true love of 34 years David A. Costley, of Lowman; children, with their spouses, Clint "Joe" McCartney with Darlene McMillen of Spencer, Tina Blauvelt with Jeff Moore of Lowman, Laurie and James Douglas of Horseheads, Julie and Jeffrey Redner of Big Flats, Nancy and Joseph Fife of Horseheads, Paul McCartney of Arizona, Kattrena and Tony Cole of Montour Falls, and Rosette and Lance Watts of Elmira; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, William and Kay McGettrick of Corning; sister and best friend, Patricia Myers, with husband Robert of Elmira; sister Jackie Woughter of Millerton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert C. Costley of Elmira, Jerome A. and Ginny Costley of Horseheads, Marie A. Kelsey of Elmira, Kathy D. Bury of Horseheads, and Donna Costley of Elmira; good friends, Ann and "Jelly" Jellison of North Carolina; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Dawn liked to sing and dance, and as a young girl once danced on American Bandstand. She was an avid bingo player, and also liked to camp and fish. A very generous person Dawn always put others needs before her own. She had a strong faith in God and was a very devoted and active member of her church. Dawn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother….she will forever be loved and missed. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 6:15 p.m. with Pastor Michael Spencer officiating. Interment will take place on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Woodlawn Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Dawn with donations to the Chemung County Alzheimer's Support Group, 425 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904.
