Phyllis A. Hoskinson Age 68, of Waterloo, NY passed away surrounded by her family on May 15, 2010 after a 22 year battle with breast cancer. She is predeceased by her parents Phillip and Elizabeth Hasbrouck Newkirk. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Dick Weideman Jr., granddaughters with families Jodi Szerszen with children Lauren, Sidney and Dillon, Carrie Weideman (Justin) with children Claire, Peyton and Justin Jr., Lisa Weideman (West) with children Julia, Emma and Ashley, Kelly Weideman (Christopher) with daughter Ava, brother, Bruce (Mary) Newkirk all of Elmira. Dear friend Maggie Payne of Florida. Phyllis earned her bachelors degree from Elmira College. She retired after 39 years of service from Verizon as a special representative in business and marketing. She was a past member and past regional executive of Sports Car Club of America, Glen Region. She volunteered for Rape Crisis Counseling, Reach to Recovery for cancer patients and was a chaperone for youth skiing for 20 years. Phyllis was a rescuer and caregiver of many unwanted animals throughout her life. A donation to your local animal rescue/shelter would honor her memory. An informal gathering for family and friends to celebrate Phyllis's colorful life will be held at her daughter's home at 359 Riverside Ave. Elmira, NY on May 21st from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
