Mary J. Doane
Age 96, of Horseheads, died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Bethany Manor. Mary was born August 10, 1913, a daughter of Benjamin and Katherine (Beecher) Doane. She is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Francis Rauh. Mary is survived by her niece Deborah (Peter) Peterson of Elmira; nephew James (Mary Kay) Richardson of Cohassett, MA; along with several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Mary was a graduate of Elmira College, continuing her education at Columbia University in NYC, where she received her Masters Degree in Social Work. Her career as a Social Worker was with New York State. Mary was a member of Park Church. Private family services will be held. Those wishing may remember Mary with a donation to either the West Elmira Branch of the Steele Memorial Library, 1231 W. Water St., Elmira, NY 14905 or The Park Church, 208 W. Gray St., Elmira, NY 14901.
Mary's family would like to thank the staff at Skilled 1 and Bethany Manor for their outstanding and loving care given to Mary over the past 7 years.
