Flossie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Jerry Holloway; daughters and their families: Lisa O’Herron of Leesburg VA, with her children, Ryan Huffcut and Lindsey (Michael) Kilgannon…Christine and Paul Cavanaugh of Horseheads, NY with her children, Breyanna (Andrew) Locke, Branigan (Taryn) Donahue, and Abbey (Alex) Walker…Terri and Kenneth Emblidge of Romulus NY, with her children, Matthew Ziegler (Taylor Stewart) and Mallory Ziegler (Paul Milliken); great-grandchildren, Orion, Finn, Shea, Grady, Merrick, Tobin, and Knox Kilgannon, Zoe Huffcut, Miles and Sawyer Locke, Bryce and Arlo Walker, Josie and Ella Donahue; brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Margaret Lynch of Canandaigua NY; along with several nieces and nephews.
Flossie was a 1960 graduate of Southside High School. After her daughters were in school, Flossie worked for a short time at Iszard’s Department Store. She then began a 20-year career at Chemung Canal Trust Company, starting as a teller before moving to the treasurer’s department, from where she retired. She had part time jobs after her retirement…working as a Chemung County Election Inspector, processing tax payments for the Town of Southport during tax season and working in the office at McInerny Funeral Home. Flossie was a longtime volunteer at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, and counted collection money, and worked funeral luncheons, at St. Mary’s Church. Over the years Flossie enjoyed bowling, ceramics, knitting, crocheting, card playing, reading and was an avid walker. She loved her dogs, there was never a time over the past years when she and Jerry didn’t have a dog in the house. A very social person, Flossie enjoyed Friday nights out and travel. Trips to a casino, with Jerry, were some of her favorite trips. Proud of her Irish heritage, she was lucky enough to make several trips to Ireland, where she connected with her Lynch relatives. A devout Catholic, Flossie was a life-long communicant of St. Mary’s Church. First and foremost, family was most important to Flossie. She never needed a reason to have a family gathering.
