Obituary of Vance S, Parker

Age 84, of Horseheads NY, passed away peacefully, at home, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.  Vance was born in Penn Yan NY, a son of the late Rudolph D. and Florence Sperbeck Parker.  He is also predeceased by his daughter Tara Pradon, twin brother Lance Parker and brother Rudolph Parker.  Vance is survived by his loving wife Sandra Schmidt Parker; son Todd R. Parker (Denise) of Davidson NC with children, Joseph, Michele and step-daughter Amanda Ireland; daughter Joy Russell of Athens PA with son Garrett with his son Brooks; son-in-law Martin J. Pradon (Tara’s husband) of Painted Post with children, Parker and Sage; daughter Jennifer Tremaine (Cory) of Big Flats with children, Maggie, Ellie, Sawyer and Annie; several in-laws, nieces and nephews. 

 

After living in Penn Yan for a short time, Vance and his family moved to Elmira Heights.  He was a graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School.  Vance was a US Navy veteran.  He was a millwright with A&P in Horseheads for several years before going to work as a New York State Corrections Officer, retiring from the Southport Correctional Facility.  In his earlier years Vance was an avid bowler and golfer.

  

Family and friends are invited to a committal service, with military honors, for Vance at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 12:00 noon.
