Kathy was a cousin who was more like an aunt - and she treated me as a niece. She was interested and curious about my life, children, happenings. She celebrated others’ happiness. She thought of her cherished daughters and grandchildren constantly and loved to share her joy of them. She will be missed!

My niece Kathy had such a big heart! Family was important to her. She and Jim always opened their home to us with a wonderful party every Christmas Eve. I found a photo of all of us taken in 1984 at that party. And then, in 1988 they again opened their home and I was married to my husband Tony Layng in their living room with my brother-in-law, Judge William Danaher, performing the rituals. Many happy memories at 115 Demarest! Kathy was an amazing artist, a good friend and a generous and loving niece. The family at Kathy and Jim’s, Christmas Eve, 1984

Kathy, my niece by marriage, was like a sister to me. I cherish the long weekends we had in Cape May, drinking wine late into the night and gossiping about our children and grandchildren. Yes, when she was with you, she was 100% 'with you'. Her sense of humor was of the self-effacing kind. Despite her skill and talent, she was humble, always feeling like she was the one blessed to be with you. I loved her dearly. Carol Crossed

I first met Mrs. Chapman shortly after meeting Sarah in 7th grade. She had the instinct to know when people were hurting and her compassionate listening and gentle voice were always a comforting blanket for anyone who stopped in for a visit. Gratefully, Jason Terkoski
