Obituary of L. Wayne Talley
Loren Wayne Talley, beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2024, at the age of 63.
Wayne was predeceased by his mother, Louise Mangelsdorf; father, L.C. Talley; stepfather, Charles Mangelsdorf; brother, Charles Talley; and former brother-in-law, Stephen Chely.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Julia (Bradley) Frantzman, and their children, Emmett and Savannah, of San Antonio, TX, and son, Trent (Susan) Masters of Allen, TX. Wayne is also survived by his sister, Cheryl Talley Guild of Horseheads, NY; brother, Chuck (Jaymie) Mangelsdorf of San Antonio, TX; and sister-in-law, Cynthia Talley of New Braunfels, TX. Wayne also leaves behind many nieces and nephews; Christina (Dan) Oldroyd and their children, Kendra and Harrison, of Big Flats, NY; Nicholas (Ashley) Chely and their children, Aniciya and Gionni, of Elmira, NY; Jason (Brianna) Chely and their children, Graycelyn and Leola, of Elmira, NY; Gavin (Dani) Guild of New York, NY; Hayley (Michael) Earle of Jamestown, NY; Kyle (Breanna) Mangelsdorf and Ryan Mangelsdorf, both of San Antonio, TX. Wayne is also survived by his canine companion and best buddy, Bruski.
Wayne was born in Pecos, TX. At age 8 his family moved to San Antonio where he lived for many years. Wayne is a graduate of John Marshall High School in San Antonio, TX. Wayne served in the United States Army as a Field Artillery Surveyor and was stationed in Hawaii. Wayne spent his early career as a journeyman electrician. He later found his true passion in the hospitality industry.
Wayne relocated to the Finger Lakes region of NY in 2016 to be closer to his sister, Cheryl. Wayne worked as a Manager at Wagner Valley Brewing and Wagner Vineyards on Seneca Lake in Lodi, NY since 2017. He loved his job and found a tremendous amount of joy being a member of the Finger Lakes craft brewing industry.
To know Wayne was to love Wayne. His smile, laugh, and hugs were second-to-none. He was a great handyman and jack of all trades. Wayne was incredibly caring and kind and never met a stranger. He had a personality as big as Texas and will always be remembered for how he made everyone feel.
Family and friends are welcome to join in celebrating Wayne’s life at Wagner Vineyards on the Vantage Point on Seneca tasting deck Thursday, July 25 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Dress is casual and colorful.
