Obituary of Linda Belle Dunlap

Age 75, passed away peacefully at Corning Hospital on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.  Linda was born and raised in Elmira, the daughter of the late John R. and Irene Slater Gordon.  She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Mel Dunlap; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Kathleen Dunlap of Batavia NY with children, Kurtis Dunlap, Hannah Chaddick (Brad) and Ryan Dunlap … Chris and Jen Dunlap of Elmira with children, Sabe Thomson, Violet Swimley, and Jack Dunlap; great granddaughter Emery Chaddick; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Anna and Harry Goodwin with children, PJ and Casey Goodwin.

Linda was a 1968 graduate of Elmira Free Academy.  She was a nanny for many families in the Elmira community. A special thank you to Dr. Eugene Toy, all of the Guthrie staff, nurses, and doctors in the Cancer Unit, ICU, and East Wing of Corning Hospital. 

 

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  A funeral service, with Pastor Andy Pollock officiating, will follow at 6:15 p.m.   Committal prayers and interment will take place at 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Woodlawn Cemetery.  Those wishing may remember Linda with a donation to Guthrie Cancer Center 1 Guthrie Dr Corning NY 14830, or SPCA of Chemung County, 2435 County Route 352, Elmira NY 14903.
