Obituary of Ernestine O. Blitz

Ernestine O. Blitz "Tina" Age 94, of Elmira, died Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Tina was born May 16, 1916, in Williamsport, PA, the daughter of Julius C. and Mable (Neuer) Franquet. She was predeceased by her husband James G. Blitz in 1984, brothers, Paul and William, sister Florence. Tina is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James C. and Marie Blitz of Wellsburg, Gary E. and Margaret Blitz of Elmira; grandchildren, Stephen (Megan) Blitz of Big Flats, Jason (Heather) Blitz of Big Flats, Colleen (Sgt. Richard) Bowers of Fort Polk, LA, Kelly (Ken Sanford) of Albany, NY; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alexia, Kienan, Jenna & Isabel Blitz and John Bowers; sister-in-law Shirley Franquet of Williamsport; along with step-grandchildren, Mitchell, Michael, Michele, and Melanie. A good and loyal volunteer, Tina worked with RSVP for 17 years, and Planned Parenthood for 11 years. She was a member of the Chapel Park Senior Citizens, the Gold Card Club of Southport, and the Central Christian Church. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Friday, September 10, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours. The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Village and the Chemung County Nursing Facility for their care and compassion.
