Obituary of Genevieve A Orlousky
Age 97, of Elmira, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Hospital SNF following years of declining health. Gen was born March 24, 1926, the daughter of the late Peter and Lucy Palange. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Joseph Orlousky, brother Bias Palange, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Marion (Richard) Hoffman, Patricia (Joseph) Cole, John (Madlyn) Orlousky. Gen is survived by her loving children, Paul (Kim) Orlousky of Avon Lake, OH, Mary Lou (Bill) Losinger of Elmira, JoAnn (Ron) Rathbun of Horseheads, Michael (Susan) Orlousky of Horseheads, Susan (Chip) Mathers of Elmira; grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) Orlousky, Jack (Jane) Losinger, Brian (Stephanie) Losinger, Michael (Julie) Losinger, Daniel (Anna) Rathbun, Kristen Rathbun, Jillian (Carson) Tyler, Brittany Orlousky (Jeff Adams), Alex Orlousky (Gianna DelGrosso), Hannah Orlousky (Vinny Eberhart), Meghan (Tyler) Gunderson, Jeffrey Mathers; 11 great grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gen married Joe in 1951 and together they raised their 5 children on Webber Place. Webber place was the base for the fondest family memories. Gen could always be found sitting in her white wicker rocking chair on the front porch. She lived a rich and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of many along the way with her smile, quick wit, and caring personality. She was a wife, mother, and grandmother you could count on for love, support, a good talk, a good cry, and always a good laugh. She made every event more memorable with her wonderful sense of fun. Gen was a communicant of The Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish.
Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira. A private Interment will be on Monday, January 22, 2024, at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
