Obituary of Marilyn Eno Wolter

Please share a memory of Marilyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marilyn Eno Wolter, age 79, born in Springfield, NJ passed away peacefully of Alzheimer’s/dementia on October 10, 2023.  She is survived by her husband Robert Wolter and her sons, Eric Eno Wolter of Elmira, NY and Stuart Wolter of Albany, NY.

Marilyn was the kindest and most loving person one could know.  She leaves a deep void in our hearts.  The last few years with Alzheimer’s were difficult for her until she got closer to passing.

Marilyn’s father was a Bell Labs engineer with patents on various telephony devices.  Her family moved to Indianapolis when she was an early teen.  She attended Ball State University where she majored in Spanish hoping to become a teacher or interpreter.  She was a Pi Beta Phi, and it was there that she met her husband Robert, and they married after her graduation.  They have been happily married since 1966.

As a youth Marilyn spent time in the summer at Lake George, NY (where her father also went as a youth).  She loved going there for the rest of her life.  She especially enjoyed volunteering with multiple libraries over the years, particularly Notre Dame High School in the 1990s and Steele Memorial Library in the 2000s, both located in Elmira, NY.  Some of her fondest memories were of times spent with friends at the Monongahela, PA and Elmira, NY libraries.

Marilyn brightened our lives every day with her positive attitude and pleasing, friendly personality.  She will be sorely missed.

There will be no funeral or ceremony as the family chooses to mourn in private.  Marilyn will be interred in the generations-old Eno family plot in Red Hook, NY.  Arrangements by McInerny Funeral Home.
