Those cold winter nights in Elmira and then in Horseheads, I remember Mom doing her knitting. Sometimes it would be a sweater. Most often it was an afghan (made long enough to cover herself and keep her warmer, especially from the drafts in the old Victorian on Euclid Ave).
Knitting wasn’t all of it, though. I also remember her embroidering Christmas stockings for each of her grandchildren. In addition to those stockings, every Christmas we get to remember Mom from the special Christmas tree ornaments she gave us each year - gifts that keep on giving and keep memories of family alive!
