Obituary of Adele A. Roberts
Adele A. Roberts – Undisputed Sweetest Person Ever
Adele A. Roberts of Valley Cottage, NY (and a longtime resident of Elmira, NY) brought her always sunny disposition and affection for canines large and small to heaven on August 30, 2023.
Born April 19, 1941 in Elizabeth, NJ, she moved to Elmira, NY in 1941, graduating from Elmira Free Academy in 1959. After living in Maplewood, NJ for one year and returning to Elmira in 1961, Adele worked in billing for Arnot Ogden Hospital until the birth of her first child in 1967. Adele was active in North Presbyterian Church (Deacon, Bell Choir, Sunday School teacher, Prayer Circle), Meals on Wheels and Atheneum. She lived in Elmira for 61 consecutive years (and 78 total) before moving downstate into a nursing home after a fall in 2021.
Predeceased by her parents Roy and Eleanor Arrandale, Adele is survived by her daughter Caryn A. Gauzza (Robert) of Nanuet, NY and son Alan C. Roberts (Jamie) of Waunakee, WI. Adele was especially effusive and enthusiastic about her grandchildren: grandson 1st Lieutenant USAF James A. Roberts of Goldsboro, NC and granddaughters, elementary teacher Emily A. Gauzza, sales executive Allyson M. Gauzza and nursing student Molly P. Gauzza of Nanuet, NY. She is also survived by her brother Thomas J. Arrandale (sister-in-law Leah, nephew Matthew, niece Molly) of Livingston, MT. Her later years were graced by the friendship and support of Jim and Faith Gray, Carol and John White and Donna Martin of Elmira, and the wonderful cards from the deacons and members of North Presbyterian Church, for which her family is eternally grateful. Adele also did a fabulous job of raising her children with her former husband Charles A. Roberts of Waunakee, WI.
