True Story: One morning in 1977-78 my Grandfather Hughes came into the bar at Dixie Lanes when I was cleaning. He told me he had to bail my Dad out of jail the night before. I asked him, what did he do? He told me, its not what he did its what you did. He said you've been getting tickets on your car and not paying them and your car is registered/insured in your dads name. I told him it was only two tickets. He said it didn't matter, an arrest warrant was issued for unpaid tickets. He told me this afternoon you will be back on foot.
So later that afternoon my dad showed up to tell me I was back on foot and I owed money for parking tickets. Sorry Dad for your arrest! I'm going to miss you.

Bobby and I were best friends in the 7th-8th grades at St. Patrick's school. We continued our friendship, but it lessened when we attended different High schools. I remember well his dry wit, his way of keeping his acute intelligence to himself, and at being a better athlete than he ever admitted. Always a genuinely good person.
