Age 82, passed away at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Sunday, December 11, 2022. He was the son of Jesus and Felicidad (Murallon) Manlegro. Octavio is survived by his wife Evelyn (Reynes) Manlegro; daughter Mary Lotis "Kay" Manlegro with husband Greg Whelan and their daughter Olwyn; son Joseph "Jep" Manlegro; sister Brenda Manlegro Maghinay; many loving extended family including, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends who he loved deeply and they loved him. They will all miss his smiling face. Octavio was born and raised in the Philippines. While there he built a construction business called Radium Construction Company that oversaw building projects in the Middle East. Octavio and his family emigrated to the United States in 1989 to start a new life. The family lived in New Jersey before taking a job with McWane International, the parent company of Kennedy Valve, brought them to Elmira. With his wife Evelyn, Octavio shared a devout Catholic faith and a deep prayer life. Octavio was a great storyteller which led him to start writing. He has published several books. The last 10 years he has devoted to caring for Evelyn. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira NY 14901, on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 11:00 am.
