Obituary of Jonathan Thomas Gearhart

Please share a memory of Jonathan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jonathan Thomas Gearhart, 44, died unexpectedly Friday, November 11, 2022, as a result of being struck by a motor vehicle in Elmira Heights. Sadly, this accident defines who Jon was, always trying to do good and help others with his generous heart. Jon, is the son of Kim R. & Mary T. Gearhart, formerly of Elmira. He was also the "Big Brother" to his siblings, Carrie, Joe & Jessica. Jon could be best described as very protective, generous & entertaining with his siblings. He was educated in the Elmira City School District. Jon's passions growing up were, basketball, wrestling, the Trail Blazers, and like his father, he was a fan of the Buffalo Bills. As an adult Jon was a dedicated MMA Fighter. He was a lover of nature and hunting. Left to mourn Jon's sudden passing, are his parents, siblings, girlfriend Lynn Ryan, his three children: Kaden, Sean & Jon Jr.; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jon also had a host of friends across the state that were his "extended family". Jon was predeceased by his three children: Carrie, Roger, Blade and two sets of grandparents. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date, at the convenience of his family. It would be Jon's wish that we all continue to live our lives like he did, helping others and giving generously. Our wish for Jon is that he will be reunited with his children and grandparents that have gone before him.
