"Sis"
Age 87, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca NY. Sis was born and raised in Elmira, the daughter of James and Mabel (Hall) Lambert. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Edward W. Plaisted in 2018. She was also predeceased by her brothers Robert "Bob" and James "Bud" Lambert. Sis is survived by sons, Mike Plaisted with Aletha Rollins of Elmira, Gary and wife Nancy Plaisted of Sugar Hill, GA; Tom and wife Lori of Syracuse, NY; grandchildren, Lindsey (Harris) Bristow, Lauren Wages, Nick and Nicole Plaisted, Jennifer and Joe Donovan; also surviving are in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Sis was a graduate of Southside High School. Her father owned the "Cake Box Bakery" on Main Street in Elmira. That led Sis to have a lifelong love of baked goods and sweets, as no meal was complete without dessert. Sis worked at Convenient Food Mart on Franklin Street in Elmira for over 20 years, where she won the "Miss Congeniality" award for outstanding customer service. Sis would walk to the store most every morning to open the store at 6:00 am. That walking would be a trait that would last a lifetime as she had a passion for walking, and nobody could keep up with her. She later went to work at Gerould's Pharmacy on Hoffman St. Sis was not one to sit still so after retiring she volunteered in the gift shop at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center for many years. She had been a longtime member of the former Centenary United Methodist Church, currently New Beginnings United Methodist Church where she also volunteered. Sis was always a very gracious person and kind to everyone. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh even if it was at herself. She had great taste in clothing and always looked stunning from head to toe. Sis was a world class shopper and never met a sale she did not like. Her friends were always amazed at the amount of clothing Sis would have as she was well prepared for every season. Sis enjoyed traveling to see her grandkids and going on senior bus trips. Above all Sis loved her family and was a devoted wife and mother. She especially loved to be with her grandchildren and her great-grandson and spoiled them always. She will be missed, but not forgotten. She lived life well and left us with unforgettable memories.
