Obituary of George B. Shaw

Elmira: Age 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 19, 2022, at his home, with his loving family by his side. George was born in Mansfield PA a son of Porter W. and Myrtle (Mays) Shaw. He is predeceased by his siblings, Barbara Stevens, William Shaw and Porter Shaw, Jr.
George is survived by his wife Sandra Burrell Shaw, with whom he would have celebrated 54 years of marriage with on October 26th; children, Kathleen R. Watts of Florida, George B. Shaw of Albany NY, Alan L. Shaw of Pennsylvania, Wendi M. Howe of Beaver Dams, with Matt Morey; grandchildren, Jessica Walton, Nathan Watts, Jonathan Shaw, Ashley Rayder, Cassandra Shaw, and Alicia Shaw; brother and sister-in-law John H. and Shirley Shaw of Elmira; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Connie L. and Jack Miller of Daytona FL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold H. and Corrine Burrell of Pennsylvania and Michael R. and Vicki Burrell of Caton NY; five great-grandchildren; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
George was a Veteran of the U S Air Force and a long-time employee of Schweizer Aircraft, retiring after nearly forty years of service. He was also a long-time coach with Little League baseball, Small Fry basketball and football. George was very committed to his family, his church and would help anyone who was in need. He will be forever loved and missed.
Family and friends are invited to The Lighthouse Baptist Church, 209 Gardner Road, Horseheads on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Interment, with military honors, will be held at Fitzsimmons Cemetery.

A special thank you to nephew Paul "Bubby" Renshaw, who was more like a son to George, for all of his love, time and commitment to dad and the family.
