MY TRIBUTE TO MRS. MAUREEN DALY
I am paying tribute to Mrs Daly for her hospitality to me and my family over the years. Her home became an oasis for imagination and learning new things as within every room of her home contained many objects with its own story that collectively inspired me to realize how beautiful our god-given world really is. During those days I didn't have too many friends but I have fond memories of my best friend during those days Danny Daly.
I always look forward to going to visit Mrs Daly's house and remembered exploring with Danny for artifacts beside the garage left behind by a previous owner who was a pharmacist who buried his empty glass medicine bottles. I enjoyed learning about the weapons of martial arts including nunchucks and shooting stars. I remember Danny's turtle and it's unique smell. I fondly remembered how my childhood which bridged the gap between the '70s culture and the '80s was completely enriched and gave it depth as I grew up around her family.
Even though I moved out the area after I graduated from College, I would often come by and visit Mr & Mrs Daly and both reminisce about the past and the things current. Mrs. Daly was always kind, courteous, caring, giving and gracious person. I remember the times when she would host sleepovers for her son Danny. During breakfast time I discovered that she made the best pancakes in the world. One of those summers, I believe I gained a few inches of height from all the pancakes that I ate that year.
I will never forget all the great moments at the Daly homestead in Elmira. From childhood to adulthood, I thank Mrs. Daly for being a great friend to my mom, and I thank her son, Danny, for being a great friend during a time in my life when I had so few and was overcoming and navigating through the affects of a past childhood health issue.
Danny and Tommy, I will always be here for you if you ever need anything or want to connect. I miss you guys, and I miss your mom and also your dad.
