Obituary of Hildegard Antonie Berggold

Age 89, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022. Hildegard was born in Germany, a daughter of the late Getrude Czichos. In addition to her mother, she was also predeceased by her brother Alfred Mainka and sister Edeltraut Mainka. Hildegard immigrated to the United States from Germany and became a U.S. citizen in 1970. She is survived by three nieces, Bettina Mainka, Rita Mainka Ruby, and Andrea Grimes, all of Germany. Hildegard worked as a nurse's aide at Arnot Ogden Medical Center of many years. She was devout Catholic, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Hildegard on Friday, August 26, 2022, 1:00 p.m., at St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 10727 Rochester, NY 14610. .
