Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Saratoga Springs: Age 99, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2022 at her home, in the company of her loving daughter. Dorothy was born January 3, 1923 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of Edward and Edna (Mooney) Hurley. She is predeceased by her husband James J. Noterfonzo, brothers Francis, Robert, William, Leon, Jack, and Richard Hurley and sisters Betty Hurley, Mary Hurley Dial. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Diane Conlee of Saratoga Springs, NY, her grandson Christopher J. Conlee and wife, Chelsea, of Alexandria, VA, two sisters Jean (George) Lowman of Pine City, NY, Evelyn (Phil) Foster of Elmira, NY and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was blessed by the wonderful friendship and care she received from Alyson Davis, Personal Certified Aide who worked alongside with her daughter Diane. Dorothy retired after working 22 1/2 years from St. Joseph's Hospital working in Central Service. She stayed in touch with her retiree friends, Irene Slocum, Florence Kennedy and Lorraine Vanhorn. Dorothy was an avid NY Yankee fan. Dorothy was also known by many for her famous Peanut Butter Fudge. Her grandson was her life! She loved and cherished every moment they were together. The wonderful relationship with her grandson was astounding. She enjoyed her many trips to Buffalo, NY to see her grandson and attend the many festivals: Italian Fest, Oktoberfest, Taste of Buffalo, Blues Brews & BBQ, The Shores and anywhere there was music. If there was a "live band", she stayed to the end. One time a band member came off the stage and played to her at the table, later presenting her with a t-shirt from their band. Music made her get up and dance and even when unable to stand, she would keep dancing by waving her arms in the air. She was the "life of the party"! People she met were so respectful and kind to her. She would always be asked "what's your secret for being 99?" and she would say, "just be good and kind to one another". She made people smile. She was loving, caring, selfless, and never asked for anything. Her smile and humorous comments made everyone laugh. Her favorite foods were, sausage, peppers and onions, ham and cabbage, Lib's pork chops, and especially birthday cake. Dorothy was a communicant of St. Clements Church, Saratoga Springs, NY.
