Obituary of Elma M. Haddad

Please share a memory of Elma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elma, age 77, was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira and passed away at her home on May 31, 2022, holding the hand of her loving partner Bill Maloney, and surrounded by loving family and friends. Elma fought a very courageous battle with A.L.S., always maintaining her beautiful smile and pleasant personality. Our families truly want to thank the caregivers who lovingly and very respectfully cared for Elma, in her home, with gentle kindness and the utmost dignity. Elma was predeceased by her loving husband Michael Haddad on September 23, 2014. She and Mike lived on Keuka Lake for several years before retiring to Horseheads NY. Elma's love of Keuka Lake was evident as she frequently shared stories of her years on the lake. Elma was also predeceased by her parents Willis and Mollie Ramsdell; treasured step-father John "Johnny" Andrews; grandparents Edwin and Elma Ramsdell, Norman and Ruth Smith; great-grandparents Anna Mae and George Willis; along with many aunts and uncles. Elma often referred to Bill as her very first love. After dating in their early twenties and somehow going in different directions, Elma and Bill reunited six years ago after the loss of their spouses. In these six years they have shared a lifetime of laughs and happiness. Elma is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Sherloyn and Glen Falke with her daughter Christina (Michael) Westenberger and their children, Cate and Zack….Elma's twin brother and sister-in-law Edwin and Nancy Ramsdell with daughter Brenda (Chuck) Metcalf and their children, Taylor (Summer) Flesch and Connor Flesch; daughter Kimberly Benton with sons, Will and Logan Knowles; son Jeffrey (Shone) Ramsdell with children, LaShahd, LaShiann, Tahaiaja and Brent. Elma also leaves behind her very best friend Marlene (Hozzi) Beers. Elma graduated from Southside High School in 1962 and then worked for the following, over the years: the office of Richard Castor, DDS, Marine Midland Bank, Chemung County Lawyer Lou Mustico, Chemung County Supreme Court Judge Charles Swartwood and Supreme Court Judge Walter Relihan. Elma was a woman of great faith in her God and a committed friend to many. Her positivity was contagious. She loved to travel, volunteer, and play card games with Bill's hunting cabin crew. It was always a treat for her to pal around with her SHS and ND girlfriends. She was gracious and welcoming to all visitors. Always a dog lover, she provided for so many. Elma could not swim, but loved the sun and water, especially at the lake. She became a pretty darn good snow skier, somewhat later in life, with the help of Mike. Elma will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. We bid you "adieu" to an amazing woman on your glorious way to heaven. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W.
