My condolences to John F's Family . I Have know John since my early days in AA, 38 years ago. He was one of the nicest guys you could meet. Always had a smile and a story or just wave hello as you drove by. He will truly be missed and remembered with a smile.

John’s family has written a beautiful tribute to their husband and father; he was clearly loved and admired and will be missed.
I am fortunate to be Uncle Johnny's niece but unfortunate to live many miles away, which made visits with him and my lovely Aunt Arlene rare. But I have fond memories of the times that I was able to spend with them. One of my favorite routines was, upon seeing me, John would wink and tell me that I was his favorite niece and admonish me not to tell my sisters. Then he would turn to one of my sisters and say that she was his favorite niece but don’t tell your sisters. It never stopped being funny and sweet.
I will remember my Uncle Johnny for his sense of humor, his warmth and his substantial gift of blarney. Love and condolences to Aunt Arlene, my cousins and their families and all of John’s extended family and friends. He touched many lives.

Terry, Jim and Foy family, please accept our deepest sympathies on the passing of Mr. Foy. Terry, your Dad always had a smile on his face and was a friend to all who knew him. We watched his funeral via TV and we have to say it was the most beautiful service we have ever heard and seen. Your daughter did a beautiful tribute to her grandfather as did the speakers. We know your Dad is smiling in Heaven now, so very proud of his family on earth. May God give comfort and blessing to all of you.
Love, Chuck and Teresa

My condolences to John’s family. I met John in the mid 80s while I was a caretaker at Woodlawn National Cemetery. A very friendly man with always a smile on his face while he would harass me about being in the USAF and not the USN. I think he liked my coworker, Ernie, who was retired Navy. He’d always let me know that I needed to shave a little closer or if I needed a haircut. You’d think he was an Admiral inspecting the troops! Always in good fun. He was a good man and will be missed by all.

To John’s Family - Years ago I met John at my uncle’s funeral and a couple times since then. Being Irish, as well, we always had a great conversation about our Irish heritage. What a wonderful man. I am very sorry for your loss.

The Foy family were an integral part of the Paganelli family gatherings. John was always the life of the party , full of wit and laughter- and God was he smart! He didn’t miss a trick ! Peggy, I am so happy to have reunited with you this summer. I hope we can keep the connection going . The Paganells loved a laugh and “fun “ as we were growing up… and John brought that too us in spades . Thank you John. Tell mom and Dad we said hello- and we will pray for you always . Peggy - see you at Keuka. If I was in rochester I would have come to Elmira but I am in Naples Florida. Love to Arlene and all the Foys, Fran ( paganelli ) Springer

To all of John's family:
Please accept my condolences for your lose. He was one true gentleman.
He knew, somehow, who I was before I formally met him at his last job. And
every time I was there, we recalled a little more. We Irish do have a gift of gab.

Mr. Foy was a very kind and gentle man who I always enjoyed talking to at the Funeral Home. He once said, "It's not how rich you are, rather than the person you are." Great words of wisdom and so true. I am glad he was able to go to Ireland numerous times.

It’s a real honor to be Uncle John’s nephew. So many wonderful childhood memories….of our summer trips to Elmira, tossing the football in the yard, where he would call me “Tom the Bomb”, the next great ND receiver…..or the vacations at Keuka Lake, where he was of course the self-proclaimed beach master! Our visits became much rarer throughout my adult life, but I was grateful that my kids got to meet him about 15 years ago, on another great Keuka Lake family get-together. And thankful that my wife Lucy got to know him on a couple NY visits in recent years. My condolences to Aunt Arlene, Kathy, Peggy, Teri, Eileen, Dan, and their entire extended families on the loss of a truly wonderful family man. Truly a life well lived and an amazing legacy!

I first met John Foy in the 1970s while working with Chemung County Government. Me being an ex-Marine and he being a Navy man, hit it right off. He would always ask my military serial number, and every time we saw each other, I would rattle off my serial number he said his. He was pure Irish and a good man! God Bless to his family. We will miss his spirit for life.

Dear Foy Family,
Although I did not know John personally, I'd have the pleasure of bumping into him at Community Bank, McInernery's Funeral Home around town.
What a Wonderful Man. A smile, a few words and a genuine greeting.
God Bless John, May He Rest in Peace

Dear Family Foy:
I had the privilege of working with John in various courts over 30 years or so. He was a pro, and much beloved by bench and bar. It goes without saying that he was the quintessential Irishman; the map of Ireland was etched on his face. There was no greater storyteller, no better mentor and no finer man.
Rest in peace, John Foy.
My most sincere condolences,
Carl T. Hayden

Foy family: please count me among those who were forever entertained by John at McInerny's. He was always kidding me about a window sliding down and knocking him on the head (my brother and I installed his windows on Durland). He will be missed by his large number of friends, for sure.. God bless John, and Arlene.

What can I say? He was John Foy but to us he was Uncle Johnny! He made us laugh and kept us guessing as to which niece or nephew was his favorite. He and Arlene never missed a family function with us and helped fill the void when we lost our Dad (his brother Jim). Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. We know that Uncle Johnny is with his parents and siblings in heaven now. I promised him that Dad would let him play ball with his brothers when he arrived. Love you all and special thank you for letting Mom and I be part of Uncle Johnny's final days. It was an honor to be with this wonderful man and all of you.

A great man who was the epitome of every person would persevere to be. Who was a man of integrity and honor who served his country with those of the greatest generation. He will be surely missed at the McInerney funeral home and at the burials when he as a jester of his life would inspect the honor guard with a smile and great compassion for those who served our country' May God meet him at the gates of to say well done my good and faithful servant. May he rest in heaven and be justified by his faith . To the family you have my condolences and sympathy of your lost of a father, grand father , and a friend to many .

So sorry to hear this. Your dad was a great guy. He did so much for our church OLL. And an active member of the community. You continue to be his light. The way you and Kevin treat everyone who passed through the doors of your business you bring the kindness and generosity and love and comfort that you got from your dad.
