Obituary of Neal A. Palmer

Age 80, passed away at Guthrie Corning Hospital, after a short illness, on Friday, November 12, 2021. Neal was born at home in Elmira Heights, one of 11 children to the late Floyd and Evadne Palmer. He was also predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Edward and Helen Krovetcz and 9 of his siblings. Neal is survived by his wife of 59 years Frances Krovetcz Palmer; son Christopher E. Palmer of Gillett PA; brother and sister-in-law Max and Sheila Palmer of Elmira; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joseph and Dorothy Krovetcz of Gillett PA; special niece Konnie Krovetcz Davis of Bethel CT; numerous nieces, nephews and his feline companions. Neal was a long-time employee of Hilliard Corporation and retired as plant supervisor. A devout Catholic, Neal was a long-time communicant of St. Mary's Church and an adorer at the Divine Mercy Chapel at St. Casimir's Church. Neal was a member of the Elmira Elks Club. He enjoyed watching and participating in sports and was an avid golfer. He was a football and basketball fan of Notre Dame and Syracuse universities and also a fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. Neal was a 12 year volunteer at Eldridge Park where one of his jobs was operating the carousel. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, to be held on Neal's 81st birthday, at St. Mary's Church, 224 W. Franklin St., Elmira on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Neal with a donation to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanu UT 84741.
