Obituary of Bonita Louise Dibello

Age 79, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a brief illness. Bonnie was born in Elmira NY, daughter to the late Jennie Hancock Thorne and John Traum. Her father was killed during WW II at the battle of Iwo Jima when Bonnie was 3 years old. Bonnie is also predeceased by her husband Joseph DiBello and sister Ginnie Snyder. She is survived by son James S. Swayze of St. Petersburg FL with his daughter Melissa E. Swayze; daughter Kathy Traum of Rochester NY with her son Dylan Baker; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jacqueline and Al Draht of Pine City, Patricia and Charles Collins of Pine City; sister Susan Thorne of Hammondsport NY; brother-in-law Steven Snyder of Elmira; sisters-in-law, Sharon Baden of Elmira and Julia DiBello of Syracuse; stepson Joseph DiBello of Syracuse with his son Joseph; best friend Jackie Mitchell of Syracuse; many nieces and nephews; her feline companion Angel. Bonnie loved playing Mahjong with her lady friends at Park Terrace in Pine City. Her most enjoyable time was that spent with family. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2:15 p.m. Interment will take place at Woodlawn National Cemetery at a later date. Those wishing may remember Bonnie with a donation to Farm Sanctuary (for animal protection) in Watkins Glen at farmsanctuary.org.
