Born in Yonkers, NY, 1933 to Theodore & Mildred Myers, raised in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, passed peacefully on October 5, 2021 in Elmira, NY. Cherished husband of Suzanne Kintz Myers, loving father of Lisa (Curtis) Gaesser and Richard Myers, proud grandfather of Lesley (Cory), Erin (Peter) and Austin (Jeanette), proud great-grandfather of Eva, Aurora, Alis, Leo, Mya. Survived by nephew Jared Michael Myers (Sheri, son Hayden), many loved Kintz sisters & brother in-laws, and former wife Kaye G. Myers. Predeceased by his brother Richard G. Myers. Jared was a graduate of Hastings High School, NY, Columbia College, NY - (BS) and University of Santa Clara, CA – (MBA). Jared served his country for over 20 years in the U.S. Coast Guard & the Reserves, attaining the ranks of Commander, and U.S. Naval Aviation pilot. In 1957, 1st Lieutenant Jared Y. Myers served aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Storis during Arctic Operations, transited the Northwest Passage on the USCGC Storis, the first American ship to successfully navigate those waters and the first American ship ever to circumnavigate the North American Continent. After the Coast Guard Jared resided in the San Francisco Bay Area working in finance within the technology field. He was also a civilian flight instructor. Flying was a life-long passion. Jared loved life & learning. Many other interests included outdoor adventures, genealogical research, and literature. He was a friend to many. In spite of many health challenges Jared maintained his delightful sense of humor and love of life. The family would like to thank everyone for their care and support. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
