Obituary of Marjorie Tierney

Marjorie O'Leary Tierney Elmira: Age 77, passed away in Chicago IL, after a brief illness, on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Marge was born in Elmira on December 19, 1935 a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) O'Leary. She is predeceased by her husband Thomas B. Tierney, Sr., brother John O'Leary, sisters, Mary O'Leary Field and Ann O'Leary Cady. Marge is surved by her children, with their families, Mary Alice and John Miranda, East Syracuse with their children, Danielle, J.T. and Michael; Thomas B., Jr. and Pamela Tierney, Geneva NY with sons, Thomas, Matthew and Michael; Daniel P. and Sherry Tierney, West Chester PA with children Connor, Rachel and Luke; Dr. Sean P. and Dr. Miriam Tierney, Western Springs IL with children, Ana, Sean, Maria Teresa, Patrick and John Paul; brother William O'Leary, Hull MA; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Robert Murray, Greensboro NC; along with several nieces and nephews. Marge was a long time volunteer at Notre Dame High School and Catholic Charities. A life long communicant of St. Patrick's Church, she was a devout Catholic, attending Mass on a daily basis. Taking pride in her Irish heritage, Marge was a member of the Ladies Division of the Msgr. John J. Lee, Ancient Order of Hibernians. She took great delight in all her grandchildren and treasured the times spent with them. There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to attend Marge's Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will take place on Monday, February 25, 2013 at Woodlawn National Cemetery.
