Age 66, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. John was born and raised in Elmira a son of Alfred and Bernice (Allen) Dillon. In addition to his parents he is survived by his loving wife of and best friend of 30 years, Janielle Fleming Dillon; children, Natalie Dillon of Prescott AZ with children, Kylie Clemetson (Drew) and Kolton Neel; Waylon Dillon of Prescott AZ; Matthew Dillon (Cassie) of Gillett PA with daughter Charlotte; great-granddaughter Phoebe Clemetson; step son Zack McCarty (Jessica) of Richmond VA; sister Barb Crawford (Don) of Cicero NY; brothers, Rick Dillon, Scott Dillon and Jeff Dillon (Sally), all of Elmira; several nieces, nephews and cousins; along with chocolate lab and faithful companion Kodi. John retired from the U S Postal Service in 2018 after over 20 years of service. John loved sports….he was a softball and baseball umpire for many years…and big fan of both the New York Yankees and New York Giants. John also enjoyed fishing. He was an avid poker player with Texas Hold'em being his game of choice. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Monday, May 24, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 6:15 p.m. Masks will be required at the funeral home. Those wishing may remember John with a donation to the Chemung County Humane Society and S.P.C.A., 2435 State Rt. 352, Elmira NY 14903.
