Obituary of Charles Edward Eldridge

Age 95, passed away peacefully, at his home, on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born and raised in Elmira a son of Walter and Mary (Hentz) Eldridge. He is predeceased by his daughter-in-law Mary Eldridge, son James Eldridge, step-son Peter J. Perfetti and brother John Eldridge. Ed is survived by his wife of 41 years Miriam "Mimi" Eldridge; children, Jacalyn Eldridge of Elmira, Charles "Chuck" Eldridge of Collingswood NJ, Susan Eldridge of Elmira and Brian Eldridge of Elmira; daughter-in-law Carol Eldridge of Ukiah CA; grandchildren, Cullen McCann, Jennifer (Keith) Stahle, Maureen Schuler, Megan McCann, Chas Eldridge, Rachel Eldridge, Marissa Bobkowski, Elaine Bobkowski, and Brianna Eldridge; step-children, Don Perfetti of Charlottesville VA, Marcia Liddick, with husband Ron, of Dillsburg PA and Diane Perfetti Callahan, with husband Patrick, of Elmira; step-grandchildren, Peter J. Perfetti, Jr., Danielle Perfetti, Clint and Kaley Liddick; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joyce and Tom Savino of Marathon NY; along with several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ed was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII. He enlisted at the age of 16 in December 1941, after Pearl Harbor, by embellishing his age. Ed proudly served with the Marines until his discharge in 1946. He had a career as a Corrections Officer, retiring from the Elmira Correctional Facility. Ed was a member of the B.P.O.E. #62 and the Elmira Heights American Legion Post #154. Ed and Mimi enjoyed the 30 plus years they spent in Florida during the winter months and always looked forward to the daily afternoon cocktail hour spent at their home with friends and neighbors. Following Ed's wishes, private family services will be held.
