Obituary of Helen Yunis Lutomski

Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Died on Monday, February 22, 2021, at the age of 103 at the home in which she had lived for her entire life. She was married to Eugene J. Lutomski for 64 years until his death in 2005. Helen had four brothers all of whom predeceased her, Eli, Tuffee, Nicholas, and George. A nephew, Jeffrey Yunis, also predeceased her. Helen is survived by her nieces, Georgia Reynolds (Ransom), Pamela Yunis (Kim Kinsman), and Bebette Yunis (Kristen DeLuca). Helen was born into a generation of immigrants, with parents from Lebanon. She was taught at an early age the importance of hard work, family, and loyalty. Throughout her life, Helen remained dedicated to her family businesses and to supporting those she loved. Kindness and happiness came naturally to her. So did her knack for traditional Lebanese cooking, often expressing her affection for others with a delicious family recipe. Helen carried her unique ability to always show unconditional kindness, happiness, and love until the day she died. It was felt by everyone in her life, including her dedicated nurses. During their long and happy marriage, Helen and Gene loved to travel and visit the family's cottage on Keuka Lake. Together, Helen and Gene were also accomplished bowlers having successfully competed in several Elmira bowling leagues for decades. Helen surely deserved the long and happy life that she lived. The family is grateful to Helen's "team" of caregivers – Laura Betschen, Shelly Augustine, Amanda VanGalder, Audrey Harris, Rebecca Bennett, Haylee Kahler, Alexis VanGalder, Amanda Domanski, Nicole Bennett, Megan Williams and Liz Morgan. There will be no calling hours. The family will have a celebration of Helen's life at a later date. Any person wishing to make a donation in Helen's memory may do so to St. Jude's Hospital for Children, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105, or to a charity of their choice.
