Obituary of John Allen Miles

John A. Miles Elmira: Age 93, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. John was born in Syracuse NY a son of William and Louise Miles. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Geraldine Arnold Miles on January 10, 2019. John is also predeceased by his siblings, William Miles, Alice Zack and Virginia Cruise. He is survived by his daughter Linda M. Bellgraph of Binghamton with her children, Amy Bellgraph and Matthew Bellgraph; son and daughter-in-law John Arnold and Claudia Miles of Charlotte NC with daughter, Emily (Joseph) Filc; great-grandchildren, Sierra, Graceyn, Molly and Miles; sister Barbara Butler of Virginia Beach VA; sister-in-law Joan Mosher of Horseheads; several beloved nieces and nephews. John was a machinist for Remington Rand, where he met his wife. He worked at the Rand until they closed, then spent many years at Hardinge, Inc. from where he retired. John ran the concession stand at Dunn Field for many years. A devout Catholic, John was a long-time communicant of St. Mary’s Church. A dedicated and loving family man, John will be forever loved and missed. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The rosary will be recited at the conclusion of calling hours. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church , 224 Franklin Street, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers will follow at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
