Mary Catherine Morgan, née Edwards, was a lifelong resident of Elmira, NY and passed away at Absolut Care of Three Rivers in Painted Post on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the age of 89. Mary was born in Elmira, daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Welliver Edwards. She was predeceased by her son Frederick William Morgan. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Frederick Weed Morgan. She is also survived by her brother Donald Edwards of Concord CA, her daughter Katherine "Kate" Morgan of Elmira, Kate's spouse Jeffrey Hall, her grandchildren Miki and Paul Takeuchi and great granddaughter Megumi King-Takeuchi as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary attended high school at Elmira Free Academy where her friends knew her as "Mary Kay". She attended Parsons School of Design in New York City and earned her Master's Degree in Education from Elmira College. She started her teaching career working in the Elmira, Horseheads and Waverly school districts. She then went on to teach for many years at Elmira Business Institute until her retirement. Mary was always interested in antiques and collected, bought and sold them for many years. She was a long-standing member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a genealogy buff/mentor. Those who knew her well were impressed by her encyclopedic knowledge of Hollywood films of the 30's, 40's and 50's. Mary was a member of Lake Street Presbyterian Church. Due to ongoing COVID restrictions services for Mary will be held at a later date. Those wishing to do so may remember Mary with a donation to the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira NY 14903.
