Age 76, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility after a long battle with ALS. Theresa was born in Elmira, daughter of the late Nazzareno and Josephine (Manocchio) Rocchi. She was predeceased by her brother Anthony F. "Tony" Rocchi. Theresa is survived by her loving husband John R. Tallis Jr.; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Kelly MacIntosh of Willard NY with their daughters, Lindsay MacIntosh and Emily (John) Marsh … Todd and Kelley MacIntosh of Ovid NY with their children, Rafael (Kayla), Tucker, Tristan, (Katie), Luke, and Annabelle MacIntosh; great grandchildren, Noelia, Ainsley, Emmeric, and Laney MacIntosh; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Angela Rocchi of Elmira, Karen and Dan Robbins of Pine City, Greg and Jane Tallis of Cary NC, Kathy and Gerry Warner of Gillett PA. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and several supportive friends. Theresa was a long-time hairdresser who truly loved her work. She worked at a variety of shops in the Elmira/Horseheads area and her last 10 years of hairdressing were spent at Appleridge in Horseheads. Theresa was a people person with an outgoing personality which led her to develop personal relationships with her clients at Appleridge. She was multi-talented and enjoyed making and selling crafts of all kinds. Theresa loved to gamble and always looked forward to visiting Turning Stone and Tioga Downs Casinos. She was a top notch cook and enjoyed entertaining and feeding family and friends during gatherings at her home. Theresa and John also had a group of friends who would take turns hosting dinner parties. Family was most important to Theresa and she cherished the time spent with them. For 11 years, in the later part of her mother's life, Theresa cared for her. Private services will be held. When circumstances allow, a celebration of life will take place for Theresa. The Tallis family would like to offer a special thanks to the CNA's and other staff on the 5th floor of the Chemung County Nursing Facility who took the time to get to know and care for Theresa over the last four years. Words cannot adequately express John's sincere thanks and appreciation to Karen Robbins, Debbie Troccia, and Christine Stevens for their friendship, compassion, and assistance throughout the course of Theresa's illness. Those wishing may remember Theresa with a donation to either the ALS Foundation or a charity of one's choice.
