Obituary of Dorene C. Novick

Age 100, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Dorene was born in Elmira NY, daughter of Thomas and Marianne (Carrescia) Caroscio. She was predeceased by her husband Henry B. Novick; brothers, Victor (Mary) Caroscio and William (Edith) Caroscio; sisters, Lena (John) Cherkis and Mary (Anthony) Maio. Dorene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Thomas H. and Nancy Novick of Geneva NY. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Dorene was a clerk with the Elmira City School District for over 30 years. She was a devout Catholic and had been a life-long communicant of St. Anthony’s Church until its closing. Faith and family were most important to Dorene. In their later years Dorene and her sisters enjoyed all their time together. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 12:00 noon. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). Committal prayers will follow at Woodlawn National Cemetery. The Novick family wants to extend a special thanks to Dorene’s niece Mary Ann Caroscio for all the loving care she has provided to Dorene over the years and to the Chemung County Nursing Facility, especially the second floor staff, for the care they had provided during her time there.
